The Rathaus

Some of the kids from our club at the top level...they (meaning BRETT) were very excited about the non bubbly water. Me and Sergio at the Fountain out side the Rathaus. It wasn't that great of a fountain but we felt the need to take pictures... Me at the same fountain....
A view of the Soccer Stadium from the Rathaus, it is AWESOME and there is ANOTHER game in September!! WOOHOOOOO Part of Hannover The Marktkirsche - its a GIANT church and its been there for about 400 years maybe? The green Spire on the left side is another church (I'm not sure how to spell it) But there are 3 of them all in a line and it makes finding your way out of being lost WAY easier...I know from first hand experience of being VERY VERY LOST. This is the 3rd Church, it is in the Right lower side, it was bombed during World War II and is now used as a memorial and reminder of all that happened. They also have art festivals in it and around it, it's a pretty cool church. This is the "ugly glass building that is 'modern art'". No one really likes this building because it is in the middle of all the pretty old style buildings and appears to be taller than the Rathaus (which isn't allowed I think...) I think its kind of cool, there is a glass tunnel in part of it, and I REALLY want to walk through it.
Love you all!
Mia

Boat Van

I don't think any one will really understand this one except for a few people. But here is what I think is a BOAT VAN! and its TEAL.

My Room!

The fact that I have a couch in my room may lead you to think my room is very large, however, it is small couch, and my room is about half of my room at home. So don't go thinking my room is enormous...And of course there is a stereo!! This is my bed, its kinda lumpy because i was laying on it to write in my journal. Hanging on the end is my Birthday Shirt from Kat... :D This is my desk...the light from the ceiling is on it because we took it off to change the bulb and still haven't put it back on... The chair is awesome though... This is where ALL my clothes are. Yeah, I have magic skills that somehow allowed them all to fit in there?? Kind of a boring post but some people asked about my room so...there it is. Love Mia p.s. WRITE A LETTER!!

The weekend

This is the Hannover vs Cottbus game, well pregame, every electronic device I had with me died as the game started so I will have to get other pictures from Brett, oh well. We sat in the corner about 10 rows up from the field, it was GREAT. And we were across from the crazy fans so we got to see the mural banner things they made...they took up whole sections!! I will get pictures of that soon!! Thats my face painting. They are very efficient at it! It was raining at the game and the way home...that is why I'm so wet...
This was my first day of school picture. Note: I am wearing JEANS, and jewelry and a nice T, no gym shorts or tank tops. Yes Kat, I look like a girl... This is the Opera House and the two guys in the lower right hand corner yelled at me and Brett to leave because we were "Auslanders" which just means foreign. They were mean. But the building is pretty! I saw this poster on my way to school, I trieds to take it down for my wall at home, but they covered it in tape!! DANGGIT. I think its hilarious though, although I still don't know what it says... Henning took this picture of me before we went Canoeing on Saturday, it was FREEZING and I ended up in a Kayak with a guy that only spoke Japanese and had never held an oar in his life. My guns are now the size of Carmen's.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

So today was my first day...I might add a few pictures later...but I am SOOO tired, everything was in German, except for the last hour and a half, where for 45 minutes we talked about speaking English in the class(history and english) in German and then the last 45 minutes we actually didtalk in English. I got most of my school books, and if you've been to RBHS and have seen the World Studies and English books...well mine only weighs as much as ONE of them! Yeah, all my books here equal about one at home....GERMANY ROCKS!! ahaha. We don't change classes here either, the teachers do, so I didn't even really get lost (phyiscally, I can really say I was ever there mentally...) Also, only FIVE math problems...CHICKA CHICKA YEAHHH! Love, Mia

.MONOPOLY.

Yes, I am making an ENTIRE blog about Monopoly. Specifically, GERMAN MONOPOLY. This is the old version, so it uses the highly inflated Deutsch Mark so EVERYTHING IS PRICEY...kind of like Europe now for me... haha. Justus and I played last night, and I was losing, and getting bored so we quit, and we played again today, and I had all the red, yellow and light blue and hotels on all of them!! Justus lost, and I won. WOOHOOO!!! Here are some pictures of the crazy game...

ZOO! (and other things)

This is a spotted llama - yeah. like a dalmation. it was cool.
This was part of a fountain...yes, a fountain of a stone elephant taking a GIANT pee... The other side is of an elephant shooting it out its nose...which I think is mean because technically that elephant is shooting pee water out its nose? I'm not really sure, but the India part of the park was pretty, and the tigers were AWESOME and it was really nice.
This is part of the new thing at the zoo - I think it wil be of North American Animals or something but I AM A LUMBERJACK!!! (JJHS bball - where is my hat?!?!)
This was on our trip to the Hannover Zoo, it looks freakishly like the one in STL except they have more hippos. There is also a thing were you can ride a boat and get REALLY close to the animals, but Justus and I were impatient and didn't want to wait in line (who would've thunk it...)
This is another Castle about 20 minutes outside of Hannover, we took a tour inside, but were't allowed to take pictures inside. But the guide talked really fast and in German (we are in Germany you know...) So I didn't understand much of it. After it we went to this little zoo with only animals native to Germany, they had raccoons and deer - for some reason I decided to take pictures but...I don't feel like taking time to put them up...I'll probably load ALL the pictures to Shutterfly or some website and if you're REAL bored you can look through them all...
This is the Groß Fountaine at the old summer palace ( I think it was in my last blog thing...i can't really remember...) It was HUGE!!
This is the canal near where I am living! I took this picture AND rode my bike at the SAME TIME! so that is kind of a big deal, for me. The houses probably look big, but one of those buildings is actually 3 or 4 houses. SOOOO, this was really long and now we are going to the market, but I will finish later. I love you all!!

First Days

First off, this is most of my family, Fidi is away for the weekend, I'm not sure where...but Henning is to thefar left (my hostfather) then Justus (my host brother) and Hilde (my host mother)
Yesterday was my first full day and it was FULL! Henning and I walked around some of downtown Hannover - for FOUR HOURS!! and I know have a HUGE blister on my heel...
Then later that night we went to Maschseetage - a festival thing around the lake (or sea...) they have, we saw a Police cover band...they couldn't sing wvery well.
The day before was my first day, after coming home from the airport we ate, then I unpacked and learned all the rules and then took a nap. Not to exciting, but there were some nice sunflowers in my room when I arrived (beautiful!)
Today, Henning and I went grocery shopping and in the afternoon we all went for a bike ride to the Großengarten at what used to be the Summer Palace for the Hannover kings. It was VERY pretty

That is all for today, it takes a long time to load the pictures so I will have to find a faster way to get them out...

Tschüss,

Mia
